Men that experience body dissatisfaction are encouraged to change their self-perception. In order to become body confident, one must be aware of the habits that impede their confidence. Some men tend to make negative comments about themselves. Most men comment negatively about their flabby arms, their excessive love handles, their low gut, or about their disproportional muscles, their small calfs, or their narrow shoulders. The more men express their negative veiw point of their body, the greater the dissatisfaction he will experience. The mindset of the individual needs to change in order for them to gain body confidence. Another habit that most men do is work out excessively. These men want to achieve their desired body type and label their current body state as unsatisfactory. Working out extremely could cause a man to disproportionately build mass at an increased rate in specified areas. When the individual realizes he is not equally balanced, he will then work out excessively in that unbalanced areas. The male individual is preoccupied with working out; therefore, allowing no time for him build his self-confidence.

The bad habit that most men do is internalize media’s standard of males. Magazines are consistent in delivering the ideal muscular male on the glossy covers. Films do not fail to present the masculine male with the massive biceps and the exaggerated v-shaped body. Music videos are consistent in displaying male dancers with washboards abs. The representation of men continues in the typical pattern amongst media. Men establish these models as the universal body standard, and if they cannot fit the example, men degrade themselves. In order to become body positive, men need to neglect the pressures of body dissatisfaction. Influences need to be contradicted with the self-awareness of the individual. Tell yourself you are unique, one-of-a-kind, handsome, like-no-other. By complementing yourself, you will be able to accept your current body type for what it is. Balancing the positive and negative outlets that communicate a body image of men should be regulated. This can be accomplished by limiting the use of social media. A male individual will not be able to grow and become body confident if he drains himself in negative mediums. He needs to surround himself with a positive environment, which also includes the people surrounding him Achieving body confidence is not a simple task to do because it requires dedication, discipline, and support; however, when the individual become self-confident, it is probable to say that he is least likely to become dissatisfied again.
